My name is John. I am a father of 2 and a husband. A tech enthusiast. Also a pretty mediocre guitar player. I’ve started this site to help document my training, knowledge, and adventures in IT. I’ve earned my Security Plus SY0-601 certification and multiple badges while I worked my way into the top 4% on the security training website tryhackme.com

From the first time I was punted off AOL I have been infatuated with how computers and networks (mis)behave and how to harden systems against bad actors as well as learning commonly used tools like Metasploit and Burpsuite to test systems for vulnerabilities.

Networks are the most common attack vectors today. Protecting them from such attacks has become one of the most important roles in every facet of the modern world. I use tools like Nmap and Wireshark pull the vale back on services and packets across the internet.

My knowledge goes to bare metal. My second favorite hobby has been computer hardware. Bus speeds, socket types, raid arrays, level 1 hypervisors are all things I love to learn about and play with in my spare time. I have created custom specification computers for a wide array of use cases gaming/streaming, music/video production, and office/CAD use for family, friends and local small businesses.
